Hear from Our Satisfied Readers The Joy Our Books Bring

Rated 4.5 out of 5
4.5 Review from our book reader

An urgent and powerful collection that goes far beyond headline reporting. The author explains complex issues with precision and moral seriousness, without resorting to simplification. I found it sobering and enlightening in equal measure.

Rachel Whitfield

Manchester

This collection is thoughtful and beautifully restrained. The poems do not simply describe famous artworks, they converse with them. The pairing of verse and short essays adds depth without overwhelming the reader, making this a quietly rewarding read.

Aoife Gallagher

Dublin

Bearing Witness for Gaza is rigorous and uncompromising. The essays are well researched and clearly argued, drawing important connections between history, politics and media narratives. It is not comfortable reading, but it is vital.

Patrick Doyle

Limerick

Image and Echo succeeds in slowing you down. Each poem invites reflection, encouraging you to linger with both the artwork and the words. The balance between emotional response and historical context is handled with real care.

Declan Murphy

Cork

This book is confronting but necessary. It offers historical clarity while never losing sight of human consequence. The writing is measured yet deeply affecting, and it challenged many assumptions I did not realise I was carrying.

Siobhán O’Connell

Galway

What struck me most was the elegance of the language. The sonnets and blank verse feel deliberate and well judged, never forced. It made me return to artworks I thought I already knew, seeing them with fresh eyes.

Emily Thornton

Oxford

This is a book that demands engagement. It does not tell the reader what to think, but it does insist on attention and responsibility. Its exploration of media framing and global silence is particularly strong and unsettling.

Thomas Bennett

London

This is a refined and intelligent collection. The author clearly respects both poetry and visual art, and that respect carries through every page. It is ideal for readers who enjoy literature that rewards attention and patience.
